Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek
Overview
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular short treks in Nepal. The highlight is the sunrise view from Poon Hill (3210m), offering a panoramic vista of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. This trek is perfect for those with limited time who want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Pokhara to Nayapul (1,050 m), and trek to Tikhedunga (1,530 m)
Today is the first exciting day of the trek! After an early breakfast, you'll be greeted and picked up from your hotel and drive to Nayapul by a taxi. Nayapul is a small city located at the north-west of Pokhara where the trek begins towards Tikhedunga/Ulleri. After one hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, we then follow the trail ascending through forests of rhododendron, magnolia, and garlands, until you reach the villages of Hile and Tikhedunga.
Day 2: Thikhedhunga to Ghorepani
Today is the second day of the trek. After having a great breakfast in Tikhedunga, we will continue on a trek towards the most beautiful place of Ghorepani via several beautiful villages of Ulleri and Bhanthatihi. The hike today from Tikhedunga to Ghorepani is mostly climbing on stone stairs through rhododendron forests teeming with exotic birds but it is worth trek with great sceneries.
Day 3: Hike to Poon Hill, trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani
Today is the third day of the trek — an exciting day to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. Early morning excursion to Poon Hill (3,210 m) about 40 minutes hike from your lodge at Ghorepani. Views from Poon Hill are truly spectacular — you'll see fantastic panoramic mountain views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchare, Nilgiri, and many other mountain ranges. Having breakfast, we continue for a couple of hours hike towards Tadapani through dense forest Deurali.
Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk village
Today is like a rest day. We just walk 2 hours until Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a popular tourist place for trekkers in the Annapurna area of Nepal, with easy trails, Gurung culture, Monastery, and best views of the Annapurna Mountains including a beautiful massif view of Machhapuchhare, called "Fishtail" from Ghandruk.
Day 5: Ghandruk to Pokhara
It's your last day on the trek! Take your time and enjoy those views when you wake up. Don't rush to set off as the walking is easy and buses to Pokhara plentiful. It takes about 4 hours to Nayapul, from where we drive back to Pokhara.

Raj took my family and some friends on an eco trek. He was great company, showing my husband all kinds of Nepali songs. He was a wonderful voice as well as being a great guide. A really lovely person that I would trust to take me and anyone I know anywhere!
I just completed the Poon Hill 5 day trek with Raj and I must admit that I was a bit outside my comfort zone. I was quite nervous for the trek but Raj helped me feel comfortable immediately! He was encouraging during the tougher parts and always made sure that I was doing well. We shared many laughs and Raj taught me so much during our 5 days together. He's an expert on this trek, the surrounding nature, and the culture of the villages we passed through. This experience was one I will never forget and I am definitely going to do another trek with Raj next time I am in Nepal!
Raj was our guide for our Trek in January 2020. It was an amazing experience and Raj was a fantastic guide. I would definitely recommend him if you are thinking of using a guide for your trek. Nepal is a beautiful place and I will certainly be back in the future booking more treks.
WOW, Raj's expertise and medical knowledge saved a life long dream. Crystal, I and Raj did the Poon Hill trek together. Raj had to contend with out-of-shape Seniors 66 yrs old who have a bunch of medical handicaps. Raj was patient with my super slow pace and always encouraging both of us. He is a true Professional and Gentleman. Raj knew every inch of the Annapurna trail like the back of his hand. Raj solved issues in a matter of minutes that would have taken us hours or days to resolve on our own. Simply, Raj saved our trek. Raj assessed our physical condition and modified the speed of our trek so that we were successful. When Crystal became ill, Raj like a magician found her some medicine that worked right away. Raj even cooked some baked potatoes for her over a wood fire. He looked after us, like we were family. For us the Poon Hill trek was very physically challenging and Raj got us through it. Raj Thank you 10,000 times!
